5 Simple Steps To Create A Laundry Room Folding Table
What many people neglect to do is pay a little bit more attention to the laundry room or area. You decorate and take care of so many rooms in the house but miss the tiny details which will make your laundry room more functional. If you have such a problem, there are a few step you can follow and optimise it as much as possible.
1. Necessary Tools And Materials
In many households this area is sometimes especially small compared to other rooms in your home. Thus you probably think there’s not much to do improve and use it to its maximum. If there’s no possibility to place cabinets and store your detergents and similar, mount a shelf. Here’s a list of the tools you need:
- Cordless drill
- Level
- Framing square
- Hole saw kit
- Jigsaw
- Tin snips
It is also essential to have these materials at hand:
- Melamine shelf
- Closet rod brackets
- A few screw-in anchors
- Metal rod brackets
- Tape-measure
2. Studs And Brackets
The height must be approximately 73 inches above the floor. Use the tape-line and a pencil to mark the place where you’ll later affix the brackets with screws. To spare yourself a lot of efforts, buy brackets which have hooks and you can easily place a metal rod on. Locate the studs behind the drywall to make the attachment of the brackets easier. If you cannot locate the studs, use heavy-duty wall anchors. The distance between them must be 45 inches. Thus the shelf will not overload and collapse. To make the shelf even more stable place a third bracket between the first two. As it will not be attached to the studs, fix it with two screws with wall anchors.
3. Affix The Shelf
Once you’ve completed step one, you can now attach the shelf onto the brackets. Place it on the metal angles and with help of the drill affix screws in the respective holes on the bracket. The length of screws depends on the thickness of the shelf.
4. Place The Metal Rod
To optimise your shelf as much as possible use the above-mentioned hook-like ends of the brackets. Make sure the rod is not longer than the shelf so it doesn’t jut out. Place the rod and make sure it’s stable and won’t easily slip and fall. You can use it to hang dry shirts or clothes which easily wrinkle.
